YAKIMA -- Greater Richland teams swept the two championship games Saturday in the District 12 Little League tournament at East Valley.
Both teams needed just one victory Saturday to clinch state berths, and both took care of business quickly.
In the Age 9-10 tournament, Greater Richland defeated West Valley Blue 7-1. In the 11 tournament, Greater Richland stopped Selah 7-6.
Play also began in the 12 tournament, and that Greater Richland team started strong, stopping Selah 10-5. In the other game, Richland National edged West Valley 3-2.
Play in the 12 tournament continues today.
9-10 TOURNAMENT
GREATER RICHLAND 7, WEST VALLEY 1: Connor Perryman was 2-for-4 with two RBI, McKaden Manderbach added a double and two RBI, and Griffey March went 2-for-3 for the winners. Noah Morrow drove in Kyle Chauvin with West Valley's lone run.
11 TOURNAMENT
GREATER RICHLAND 7, SELAH 6: Brady Heid had just one hit, but he scored twice and drove in two runs to lead Greater Richland. Mike Kozlowski went 3-for-4, and Scott Kovacs was 2-for-2 for the winners.
Ryker Zier, Jackson Lewis, Blake Reeves and Travis Turner had two hits each for Selah. Lewis had two doubles, with Zier, Turner and Max Jones getting one double each.
12 TOURNAMENT
RICHLAND NATIONAL 3, WEST VALLEY 2: Richland's Nathan Kasselder belted a three-run home run to back the pitching of Taylor Lindquist. For West Valley, Ryan Ross threw a three-hitter, and Josiah Miller was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
GREATER RICHLAND 10 SELAH 5: Hunter Chambers had two hits, including a go-ahead home run in the fifth, Tyler Cowen went 3-for-4, and Mason Nelson was 2-for-3 for the winners.
