Marvin Frigen

Marvin Frigen, 78, of Yakima died Thursday in Yakima.

He was born in Monango, N.D. He worked as a barber for 18 years in North Dakota and then worked for Melroe Manufacturing Co. of North Dakota as a truck driver and district manager. He later worked for Ingersal Rand, R&B Truck Lines and Drotzman Trucking of Yakima.

Survivors include his wife, Leila "Dolly" Frigen; a daughter, Tammy Frigen; a son, Monty Frigen; and two brothers, Allen Frigen and Donald Frigen.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Verna 'Jackie' Mae O'Dell

Verna "Jackie" Mae O'Dell, 73, of Yakima died Thursday in Yakima.

She was born in Lynden, Wash., and moved to the Yakima Valley/Wapato area in 1948. She worked in farming until her retirement in 1998.

Survivors include her mother, Juanita Crosier of Yakima; three daughters, Beverly Hosley of Bellevue, Wash., Lori Calhoun of Wapato and Roberta "Bobbi" Garcia of Yakima; a brother, Ellwood Crosier of Yakima; three sisters, Rae Early of Wenatchee, Shirley Owen of Union Gap and Kaye Boardman of Maple Valley; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park.

Merritt Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

 

Andree M. Smith

Andree M. Smith, 87, of Yakima died Thursday in Yakima.

She was born in France. In her early years, she worked for the Boeing Corp. as a shop clerk. She and her husband later owned and operated the Wenas Lake Resort for many years until they sold it in 1995.

Survivors include her husband, Jack P. Smith of Yakima; two sons, William Smith of Woodinville, Wash., and Richard Smith of Moses Lake; a daughter, Cynthia Adkins of Olympia; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

At the family's request, there will be no services.

Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

 

Michael Ray Bennett

Michael Ray Bennett, 57, of Yakima died Friday in Yakima.

Eugene 'Gene' Ford

Eugene "Gene" Ford, 73, of Selah died Friday in Selah.

He was born in Hoquiam, Wash., and spent much of his life working in farming and construction. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was later employed at Noel Construction and Pepsi-Cola. He lived in Stanfield, Ore., for a few years and lived in Selah for 31 years.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Blair Ford of Selah; a son, Mark Ford of Selah; two daughters, Eileen Berriman of Yakima and Diana Lange of Moxee; a brother, Gerald Ford of Yakima; two sisters, Marilyn Heinlen of Yakima and Helen Fordyce of Battle Ground, Wash.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

At Mr. Ford's request, there will be no services.

Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory in Yakima is in charge of arrangements.

 

Hilda V. Kangas

Hilda V. Kangas, 91, of Prosser died Friday in Prosser.

She was born in Winlock, Wash., and graduated from Winlock High School in 1935. She later lived in Raymond with her husband before moving to Ellensburg, where she worked at the Ellensburg Hospital for many years.

Survivors include a son, Richard Kangas of Sunnyside; two daughters, Fay Ann Swoboda of Sunnyside and Evelyn Dar of Spearfish, S.D.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Viewing and visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ellensburg.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Lisa Hancock

Lisa Hancock, 39, of Ellensburg died Thursday in Yakima.

Survivors include her mother, Ayako Corrick of Fairbanks, Alaska; her husband, Theodore Hancock of Ellensburg; a son, Mason Isaac Hancock of Ellensburg; a daughter, Eleanor Corynn Hancock of Ellensburg; and two brothers, Gary Corrick and Alan Corrick, both of Fairbanks.

A memorial service is at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ellensburg.
