YAKIMA -- Paul Hudson, who over the past several years has been a boys basketball assistant coach at La Salle, Ellensburg and Eisenhower and the boys golf coach at Selah, will be the varsity girls basketball coach at Selah.
Hudson, who also teaches special education at Selah, replaces Leanne Straehle, who resigned after three years at the Vikings' helm.
Hudson, a 2001 graduate of La Salle who recently completed his degree in special education at Central Washington University, is excited about the possibilities.
"It's in (the Selah) district, it's a head coaching position, and I've spent the last six years of my life preparing myself for this opportunity," he said, noting that about 20 girls have consistently been turning out for drills, weightlifting and summer practices. "I think there's a lot of enthusiasm here. It's the start of a process."
